Design good and useful things

Have you ever received the abbreviation "RTFM" as an answer from an engineer or an IT employee? Then you probably got a little annoyed with this employee after a brief internet search. Because such an answer is often not meant politely and stands for "read the f***** manual". Only, who reads manuals? The employees in the IT department - not really. If a product can only be used when manuals are consulted, then it is a clear case of weak design.

At least that is the argument of the author of this classic book on the subject of design. He analyses in all breadth and depth what makes people tick when they use things and what unconscious knowledge they apply. How designers can use this knowledge and which mistakes they must avoid. It takes the author a whopping 300 pages to do this. If you want to read the book from A to Z, you will probably fall asleep. Interpret the book as a reference book. I highly recommend the chapter on avoidable mistakes and the chapter on design thinking.
